IDA SUMMER INTENSIVE provides intensive training to students ages 12 and up who have had a minimum of two consecutive years of dance. Students choose their schedules and take six hours of class per day in ballet, jazz, funk, tap, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, musical theatre, improvisation, ballroom and point taught by professional dancers and dance instructors from all over the country. We bring in a guest faculty of professional dancers and dance professors from around the United States. The faculty is hand-picked for their unique strengths, talents, knowledge, and rapport with students to assure each student achieves their highest potential!

About the Program
Get ready to work hard! Students traditionally take seven hours of dance classes at the IDA Summer Dance Intensive. Our dancers have the unique option of choosing their own schedule according to their tastes and abilities!
Dancers are initially placed into the Intermediate, the Intermediate/Advanced, or the Advanced level classes according to their ages. From there, the faculty can move them up or down according to their ability.

All of the hard work is offset with a variety of activities in the evenings. Off-campus students are welcome to join in evening activities.

Emily Dail is a New York City based dancer with a huge passion for movement and community. Originally from Charleston, SC, Emily danced at Charleston County School of the Arts and Creative Edge Dance Center. Upon moving to NYC, Emily attended Marymount Manhattan College getting her BFA in Dance, and worked with several choreographers including Peter Chu. Most recently, Emily had the honor of assisting Chelsea Thedinga for the work, Indefinitely Now, set on the Joffrey NYC Jazz and Contemporary Trainees. Emily feels deeply grateful to call Thedinga her mentor, and to have also assisted and danced in Thedinga’s work, I’ll Look Around, for the Steps on Broadway Performance Project.
Emily has also recently assisted several choreographers and workshops including Stacey Tookey’s NYC Protege, choreography workshopping with Al Blackstone, Lucy Vallely for CLI Intensive and various studio works, Anneke Hansen’s Training program, and Luminous Dance Convention! Emily recently performed Anna Marchisello’s work, Lick the Light Out, for Stacey Tookey’s Bridge Movement Showcase. She also was in Marchisello’s dance films, Full of Life and We Have To Be Friends as well as Emily Greenwell’s dance films, Blinker, Precious, Strangers, and The Light is Where You Shine It. This past summer Emily was a guest faculty member of the Joffrey Ballet Summer Intensive! Emily also currently teaches at Broadway Dance Center’s Children and Teen Program and Downtown Dance Factory. Emily feels so grateful to be living her dream in NYC, and hopes to root her classes in a warm and welcoming environment to feel free to explore, take up space, and be in community. She strives for her students to feel seen and ambitious to go after their dreams as well.
Zoe’s dance journey began at The Dance Club, where she trained and competed for over a decade. Starting as a teacher at just 15, Zoe discovered a deep passion for nurturing dancers and guiding them on their personal and artistic journeys. Over the years, She has collaborated with numerous studios and high schools across the state of Utah, bringing choreography and technical training to aspiring students.
Miss Watts completed a year as an assistant coach for Pleasant Grove High School’s drill team in 2024 and spent a year with the Continuum Pre-Professional Dance Company. Her experiences, shaped by the mentorship of dance legends and opportunities have instilled in her a commitment to both tradition and innovation. She cherish the opportunity to work with each dancer, optimizing their individuality while nurturing a strong work ethic. She is thrilled and lucky to share my love for dance with your dancers!
Austin Lee is originally from Orlando, FL but is currently living in Los Angeles, CA. Having a love for dance at a young age, Austin began training at various Orlando area dance studios and conventions. He has won Elite Protege at the PULSE on Tour conventions and workshops where he was asked to assist renowned artists such as Brian Freidman, Gil Duldalao and Nancy O'Meara. He has also assisted with other conventions and workshops such at The Dance Xperience, Velocity Dance Convention, Releve Dance Convention and more.
He recently danced and was featured on Season 17 of the hit reality show So You Think You Can Dance. He has also been a part of The Late Late Show with James Cordon, Dance Moms and Disney's Fam Jam just to name a few. He has also worked with fellow artists such as Jennifer Lopez, Jordan Fisher, Khularae, Jojo Siwa and others. He has worked on the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and recently starred in a release on Amazon Prime titled "Tiny Dancers". This fall he will also be featured on another upcoming Netflix Series!
Dance has always been his passion since day one! He loves having the opportunity to share his knowledge and training to other dancers.
In her childhood, Maddie grew up dancing competitively in Orange County and was a member of a pre-professional contemporary dance company before attending college. From receiving her BFA in Dance at Brigham Young University, she has trained internationally in Germany, Austria, Spain, and France and performed works from Martha Graham, Jenn Freeman, Jesse Obremski, Laja Field, and Alice Klock. Choreographically, she has had the opportunity to create movement for musicals such as the world premiere of 1820: The Musical and BYU Mainstage Production’s Fiddler on the Roof alongside professor and mentor, Adam Dyer. She was most recently seen performing in the Hale Center Theatre’s production of Disney’s Newsies and in Eminem’s promotional video for his single, Houdini. Maddie recently spent 15 months in New York City training commercially and assisting choreographers such as Theresa Stone and Brayden Singley. She is currently based in Los Angeles studying under industry leaders, as well as collaborating with peers and mentors to create work both on stage and on screen.
Originally from Columbus, OH and currently residing in Los Angeles, CA, Zach has created a name for himself not only as a phenomenal dancer and performer, but also as a sought after teacher and choreographer. His career as allowed him multiple performance opportunities across film, television, and stage. Select credits include: Warner Bros. feature film, ‘Project X,’ ‘It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,’ assisting the legendary Michael Rooney on the television project, ‘Hit Record,’ starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Tony Danza, a Ford Super Bowl commercial starring James Franco, performing with China’s top 5 artists on Hunan TV’s New Years Countdown, and a world tour with pop artist Adam Tyler. Most Recently he worked with the band Walk The Moon as the assistant choreographer for the popular “Shut Up and Dance” music video. Zach cites tap as his truest love, and credits much of his training and artistry to both Gregg Russell, as well as Parris Mann and Rashida Kahn. Zach has had the pleasure of teaching and choreographing at studios both nationally and internationally, and can be found on tour with Art of Movement national dance convention, as well as teaching for three competitive studios in the greater Los Angeles area, where he hopes to inspire the next generation to love and appreciate dance as much as he does. Zach’s goal is to approach every class with a kind heart and constructive eye, pushing the dancers to not only believe in their movement, but most importantly in themselves.
Kristina Power holds a BFA from the University of Utah with an emphasis in teaching, performance, and character. While at the university, she performed with Utah Ballet and the Character Dance Ensemble, gaining valuable stage experience and deepening her understanding of diverse dance styles. Kristina has studied internationally at esteemed institutions such as Elance Ballet School in Australia, the University of Eibar in Spain, the Vaganova Dance Society in Russia, and the Beijing Dance Academy in China.
Her early training includes performing lead roles such as the Sugar Plum Fairy, Snow White, and Sleeping Beauty with Ripon City Ballet in California. She also attended prestigious summer intensives at American Ballet Theatre (ABT) in New York City, Lines Ballet in San Francisco, and Contra Costa Ballet in California.
Now based in Peoria, AZ, Kristina lives with her husband and three children. She brings a wealth of professional experience and a passion for nurturing the next generation of dancers through thoughtful instruction and artistic guidance.
Lauren Hibbard is from Atlanta Georgia and began her training at Atlanta Ballet Center for Dance Education under the direction of Sharon Story. She attended Texas Ballet Theater School Professional Division in 2014 and became a trainee with TBT in 2015, dancing in works by Ben Stevenson and Ohad Naharin. In 2016, she joined Avant Chamber Ballet and performed works by George Balanchine, Katie Puder, and Kimi Nikaidoh. Since 2018, she has danced with Bruce Wood Dance under director Joy Bollinger. She has performed in works by Bruce Wood, Joy Bollinger, Lar Lubovitch, Garrett Smith, and Omar Roman de Jesus. She has been a teacher at Texas Ballet Theater School since 2016.
Tyson Hinkson is a dancer, choreographer, teacher, and artist. He grew up in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and began his dance journey with Extreme Ballroom Company, where he trained in ballroom styles such as International Latin, International Standard, and American Smooth for 10 years. Tyson performed and toured across the U.S. with Extreme Ballroom Company and, in 2016, represented the U.S. as an ambassador in Beijing and Shanghai, China. He competed nationally for eight years before pursuing a college degree, graduating in 2022 with a bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Studies, focusing on dance with a minor in sociology. During college, Tyson danced with collegiate and dance alliance teams, toured across the U.S. with Dance Alliance, choreographed and directed for collegiate teams, taught social ballroom for two years, and developed a passion for modern and contemporary movement. After moving to Taiwan, he continued his modern dance training through workshops and classes with Humanhood Dance Company and Cloud Gate Dance Theater of Taiwan. Tyson expresses his creativity through movement, painting, and various other artistic forms.

The $100 deposit is non-refundable and is applied towards your camp tuition
All registration is done online. If not paying with card, checks can be mailed in and payable to ISU Dance Team.
Students who are staying off-campus can pay each day for meals if they choose
Final payment for camp is due by the first day of camp, but your check-in process will be a lot quicker if you are paid in advance

If you received scholarships from the 2024 camp, you do need to register, pay the $100 deposit and then email manckoli@isu.edu to accept your scholarship and have it credited to your account before paying the final total.
Scholarships must be accepted by May 15th, 2025.
In Camp Scholarships will be awarded by the faculty at the end of each camp for the following year. Dancers that will be eligible to receive scholarship will need to be registered in;
If 15 & up and you wish to be considered for an end of camp scholarship, you must be taking at least 5 of these 9 genres: Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, HipHop, Lyrical, Improv, Ballroom & Contemporary.
If 12 & up and you wish to be considered for an end of camp scholarship, you must be taking at least 5 of the 9 genres: Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, HipHop, Lyrical, Improv, Ballroom & Contemporary.
Mother's of Dance Campers may apply to become a chaperone in the Dorms for the one-week. Those chosen will receive free room and board for themselves. Their Dancers only have to pay the $100 registration fee and then receive the remaining scholarship for the price of camp for their child to attend camp for the duration of their Dorms Mom tenure.
